What to Expect: Cryosauna Session

cryosauna session

First, our technician will begin cooling the unit in preparation for your Cryosauna session. All clothing and jewelry below the neck should be removed. We will provide you with gloves and socks to wear during your session to protect your hands and feet. Men must wear briefs and Ladies must wear bra and underwear. You will then enter the Cryosauna and shut the door. You will be completely enclosed and hidden from view.

Our technician will adjust your height within the unit so your head is above the rim of the chamber. The chamber is then filled with nitrogen gas. Your skin is briefly exposed to subzero temperatures (-150° to -280°F) for up to three minutes. This sudden drop in temperature is a surprisingly tolerable experience, but has a dramatic effect on your brain and body. As the cold receptors beneath the skin sense this sudden, extreme cold, your body activates powerful survival mechanisms that cause the blood vessels near the skin to quickly constrict. Blood rushes to the major organs in order to maintain core body temperature. During this process, your blood is highly oxygenated, filtered and filled with nutrients.

Your entire head remains exposed to the room and above the Cryosauna. The door cannot lock and the staff member is there through the entire process until the session has ended.

When you step out of the cryosauna just three minutes later, the blood vessels quickly dilate and blood rushes back to the skin. Blood circulation is naturally stimulated and oxygenated blood is delivered to damaged tissue. The cryosauna session stimulates the body to release endorphins, the hormones that make us feel alert and energetic.  The buoyant effects  from  each  session  typically  last  for  six  to   eight  hours. Many of Dr. Z’s clients report improvements in their sleep quality after a cryosauna session.
